Yes, You Own The Code

by Flat Rate Biz Sites on December 28, 2009

We’re formalizing our terms of service as we speak, but one thing to know:

You get the code.  The PSD files. The CSS, and the customizations for Thesis.  It belongs to you, you can take it off of our servers upon payment.  Your ideas are yours.  You have full rights to our execution of them the instant your check clears.

Any company that does it differently is opportunistic and scummy.  And fearful.  Because they feel like they have to force you to stay their customers.  We welcome the business and we welcome the opportunity to earn more business!

It’s yours.  While we reuse a lot of elements to keep the cost down, you’ve got full rights to it.  We never make blogs that look identical.

It’s sad that our competition does it differently, and we don’t feel like we should have to put this out there, but it’s official, it’s policy, and it’s one reason to trust us when you get a small business blog.

We feel like we need to be good enough to re earn your business, and that there should be no barriers between you and your work.  We’re not afraid of our customers leaving, they rarely do, and if they do, we thank them for the time we were able to serve them and wish them the highest level of success in the future.  If we handle the migration to a new server, there may be a charge, but you have full FTP access to handle things on your own and we don’t force you to stay, keep you prisoner or do anything is not the way we treat friends.
